Project Introduction

ITOCHU Logistics

China
3PL
Apparel

ITOCHU Logistics provides third-party logistics and supply chain services across apparel, consumer goods, manufacturing, and other industries, including warehousing, distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, and reverse logistics.

The company partnered with Hai Robotics to build an automated fulfillment warehouse for one of the world’s top three fast-fashion brands. The facility handles B2B store replenishment and wholesale orders alongside B2C e-commerce orders, with support for returns processing.

ITOCHU's Challenges

Serving a global fast-fashion brand meant handling bulk store replenishment and small e-commerce orders within the same warehouse. These workflows required different picking and outbound sequences, while drawing on shared inventory.

Seasonal assortment changes, a large SKU portfolio, and returns added complexity. ITOCHU Logistics needed to:

  • Coordinate B2B and B2C orders without fragmenting inventory across channels.

  • Match picking and outbound workflows to store and e-commerce requirements.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy as stock moved through receiving, fulfillment, and returns.

  • Adapt capacity and resource allocation to changing demand and promotional peaks.

The Solution

ITOCHU Logistics deployed HaiPick Climb to manage store replenishment, wholesale orders, and e-commerce fulfillment within one warehouse. The solution combines automated tote storage and retrieval, RFID identification, and goods-to-person picking, with HaiQ coordinating inventory movement and robot tasks across shared stock.

For B2B operations, workstations support picking and carton packing by style, while the WES sequences outbound cartons by product category and SKU. For B2C operations, orders are grouped for workstation picking, allowing each tote presentation to serve multiple orders. The system also supports returns putaway and inventory allocation across channels.

Warehouse Area: 3,000 square meters

Racking Height: 8.5 m

Robots: 130 HaiClimbers

Workstations: 5 inbound stations and 21 outbound workstations

Storage Capacity: 35,000+ storage locations

Results & Impact

More Responsive Omnichannel Fulfillment

Shared inventory and cross-channel allocation help ITOCHU Logistics respond to store replenishment and e-commerce demand within one operation. Stock and processing resources can be directed where needed as order volumes and channel priorities change.

Higher Productivity, Lower Labor Costs

Workflows tailored to bulk replenishment and individual orders reduce repeated handling and make picking more productive. Overall operational efficiency improves by 300%, while labor costs decrease by 75%.

ITOCHU Logistics

Reliable Service through Demand Peaks

Coordinated inventory retrieval and order execution help ITOCHU Logistics handle seasonal and promotional surges, with peak outbound throughput exceeding 3,000 totes per hour. Picking accuracy above 99.99% helps maintain dependable service as volumes and assortments change.

Less Sorting at the Store

Shipments organized by product category and SKU make merchandise easier for store teams to receive and replenish. This reduces downstream sorting and extends the value of warehouse automation into daily retail operations.

Flexibility for Future Growth

ITOCHU Logistics can adjust capacity and workflows as its customer’s business evolves. This flexibility supports changing order profiles and channel requirements while providing room to expand automation over time.

“We needed automation that could support our core operations without locking the warehouse into a fixed model. HaiPick Climb allows us to expand and adapt our operations as the business evolves.”
