Project Introduction

LangZ

United States
E-commerce

LangZ combines e-commerce operations with warehousing and fulfillment services. Its commerce business spans more than 10 companies and over 100 storefronts across platforms including Temu, TikTok, Shein, Walmart, and eBay, generating more than US$40 million in annual U.S. sales.

Built initially to fulfill orders from its own commerce operations, LangZ’s warehouse infrastructure also serves other merchants. This experience shapes its approach to automation: increasing capacity and productivity for its own business while extending the same fulfillment capabilities to external customers.

LangZ's Challenges

As LangZ expanded its e-commerce operations and opened its fulfillment capacity to other merchants, its Chicago warehouse needed to accommodate more inventory and process orders efficiently across multiple storefronts and platforms.

The company needed a solution that could:

  • Increase storage capacity for a growing, varied product assortment.

  • Improve picking productivity for small-item orders.

  • Support both its own operations and external merchants’ fulfillment needs.

  • Provide a repeatable automation model for future warehouses.

Our Solution

LangZ deployed HaiPick Climb at its Chicago warehouse to combine rack-climbing robots, tote storage, buffered inbound workstations, and goods-to-person picking workstations. The system is configured for small-item storage and piece picking, supporting LangZ’s own e-commerce operations and fulfillment services for other merchants.

Robots store and retrieve compartmentalized totes within the racking and deliver inventory to workstations for individual-item picking. HaiQ integrates with ShipOut WMS to exchange order and inventory data and coordinate robot tasks across the workflow.

  • Warehouse Area: 7,656 m² (82,413 sq ft)
  • Racking Height: 9.1 m (30 ft)
  • Robots: 113 HaiClimbers
  • Workstations: 5 sets of inbound stations and 10 outbound workstations
  • Storage Capacity: Accommodating 36,000+ storage locations
  • Throughput: 2,500+ totes/hour outbound, 200 totes/hour inbound
  • Integrated Software: Black box, integrated with ShipOut WMS
More Inventory, Better Use of Space

Results & Impact

More Inventory, Better Use of Space

A 300% increase in storage density allows LangZ to accommodate more inventory within the available warehouse footprint. This creates capacity for a broader assortment across its own storefronts and external merchants, helping spread warehouse space costs across more stored inventory.

More than Double the Picking Productivity

Picking productivity has improved to more than twice the previous level, reaching 250+ items per operator per hour. Automated tote retrieval and delivery let operators focus on picking, helping LangZ handle growing volumes while limiting the need for additional labor.

Capacity for Peak Demand

Capacity for Peak Demand

The Chicago facility can process up to 6,000 orders per hour during peak periods, helping LangZ manage demand surges across multiple platforms and merchants. This capacity supports timely fulfillment during promotions and gives LangZ more room to grow its fulfillment services.

A Repeatable Model for Network Expansion

The project establishes a standardized automation template for future warehouses, bringing together storage, robotics, workstations, and software integration. It provides a common foundation for LangZ’s planned expansion to more than 10 U.S. warehouses, supporting a consistent approach to fulfillment as its network grows.
