The Challenges
As online order volumes increased, the client's existing warehouse operations began to reach their limits.
Key challenges included:
- Labor-intensive manual picking processes, heavily dependent on workforce availability
- Extensive operator walking distances due to dispersed storage locations
- Limited flexibility to adapt to changing order profiles and peak demand
- Increasing pressure on operational stability
Solution Overview: HaiPick System 3
Together with Arvato, Hai Robotics designed an automation solution based on HaiPick System 3 (HPS 3) to support the client's omnichannel fulfilment requirements.
At the core of the solution is a robot-supported flow rack system, where storage locations are replenished directly from the rear by autonomous robots. This approach allows the combination stations and flow racks to be configured with a high degree of flexibility and adapted precisely to operational needs.
From an integration perspective, HPS 3 provides a modular and scalable automation framework, supporting seamless alignment between robotics, warehouse processes, and IT systems - and enabling Arvato to design a solution that balances performance, accuracy, and future adaptability.
