PBSA and Hai Robotics to Deliver South Africa’s First HaiPick System for Masterparts

PBSA, a leading South African systems integrator specializing in supply chain and logistics automation, has announced its latest landmark project: the deployment of an advanced Hai Robotics automation solution for Masterparts, a leading distributor of automotive spare parts. The project, which is set to go live Q4 2025, marks a significant milestone in the modernization of spare parts logistics in South Africa.

Delivered in partnership with global warehouse automation leader Hai Robotics, this solution will be the first of its kind in the country for both Hai Robotics and PBSA, leveraging high-density goods-to-person automation to address growing complexity and demand in the aftersales automotive aftermarket.

Solving Real Operational Challenges in Automotive Fulfilment

Faced with SKU growth, increasing customer expectations, and a need for better space utilization, Masterparts turned to PBSA for a future-ready solution to eliminate manual inefficiencies and improve picking accuracy. To meet these needs, PBSA partnered with Hai Robotics, chosen for its proven expertise in high-density automation. Together, they developed a tailored solution built around Hai Robotics’ HaiPick System 1, chosen for its modularity, precision, and adaptability to high-load, high-mix SKU environments.

Key Solution Highlights:

The system will be installed across a 1,100-square-meter automation zone and includes:

• 4 HaiPick A42TD-L robots, capable of reaching up to 12 meters in height

• 2 charging stations

• 22,000 storage locations for approximately 12,000 SKUs

• Full orchestration via HaiQ software and Masterparts in house WMS.

The expected benefits include:

• Up to 70% increase in storage density

• Throughput of up to 80 totes per hour

• Improved picking accuracy and order turnaround times

• A projected three-year ROI, with long-term scalability built in.
